William (Bill) Reed Spackman

William Reed (Bill) Spackman, age 75, passed away June 5, 2023, at his home in Preston, surrounded by his loving family. For many years he had dealt with a debilitating disease, multiple sclerosis. Bill was born March 4, 1948, in the Logan, Utah hospital, the son of Reed and Virginia Griffiths Spackman. He was the older brother to Becky and Karen and was always a tease. Until he started the first grade, he traveled with his dad and mom wherever construction jobs took them.

He attended schools in Preston, graduating in 1966. While in high school, he participated in the Plymouth Auto Troubleshoot Competition. He and his team did very well.

He then attended Idaho State University in Pocatello, graduating with degrees in Auto Mechanics, Diesel Mechanics, and welding. This occupation he did throughout his adult life, operating Bill's Muffler for many years. He also worked for the Boiler Makers in Kemmerer, Wyoming, part of Utah Power and Light, and as the Road Supervisor for Franklin County. He was known for his excellent work.

In 1968 he married the love of his life Carol Beus. He always joked that they met when he stopped at a stop sign, and she jumped in the car. Together they raised three children, Jonathan, Adam, and Coy.

He enjoyed hunting, camping, making belt buckles, welding, dutch oven cooking, and doing things with his family. He also thoroughly enjoyed teasing the girls and his nieces. He had a very contagious laugh.

His mom was his favorite person. He always wanted to ensure she was cared for and had the things she needed, especially after his dad passed away.

Bill is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carol; his mother, Virginia Spackman; sons Jonathan and Adam; and his daughter Coy (Tracy) Hawker; two sisters, Becky (Kent) Porter and Karen (Jim) Naylor; eight grandchildren, Tristan Spackman, Jordan "Nick" Spackman Kearl, Raven Spackman (Jantz) Ebanez, Timber Spackman, Skye Spackman, Canyon Spackman, Mayson Hawker, Chaseton Hawker; five great-grandchildren, Dallas Weaver, Tycyn Balls, Temperance Kearl, Kehlani Ebanez and Jovie Ebanez, and many nieces and nephews who will truly miss their "Uncle Bill," but not his wet willys.

Graveside services will be conducted at noon Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at the Preston Cemetery.

The children would like to publicly thank their angel mother for all her years of caring for Dad. We would also like to thank the team at Symbii Hospice, including Jeneil Blanch, Joni Stone, Becci Mendoza, and Sarah Mallory.
