About Us

We invite you to discover who we are at Franklin County Funeral Home LLC.  Our primary goal is to be the ultimate provider of creating healing experiences in the community. This section contains the heritage, vision, and the people behind Franklin County Funeral home’s mission of quality services, service with dignity to all, sincerity, and trust.

Our Story

The team at Franklin County Funeral Home has many years of experience caring for families, from all walks of life. Each family comes to us because they know we are leaders in our profession, dedicated to excellence in service, and have the highest integrity standards.

Todd Goodsell the owner and Funeral Director started in the Funeral Industry in 1986, working in funeral homes in Washington, Oregon, Utah, and Idaho and even served a term as the Minidoka County Coroner.

Todd who is a native of Cache Valley spent many childhood and adult hours with his grandparents Glen and Amy Bowman in Cub River and Preston, working on the farm, shopping in town, supporting events, and just enjoying the beauty of the area. He still owns property in the Canyon and regularly enjoys spending time there. Todd has numerous family members in Franklin County and Cache County.

After hearing some pretty unsettling stories of how much families in Franklin County were paying for funeral services, and in some cases how they were being treated, he decided to return to Preston to offer an affordable alternative to the current overpriced funeral services in the area.

From the inception of the business, he knew that he did not want this funeral home to be another stuffy grandma’s parlor funeral home. Times have changed and many families no longer feel comfortable in that type of environment. People truly want to be remembered for the life they have lived and be able to share and express that in a comfortable funeral service that fits the person.

Shocking to some that our building is a renovated storefront with lots of good old fashioned Preston, Idaho charm. From its early days as Idaho Billiards and a barbershop to its time as a video store and most recently where Napoleon Dynamite claimed to get his hair cut, otherwise known as the Cuttin Curral. We purchased the building in August of 2018 and opened it for Business in December 2018.

Our funeral home is a full-service funeral home with a full chapel, viewing areas, casket and urn selections, preparation areas, and refrigeration capability.

We offer full-service traditional and modern funeral and cremation services, focusing on services as unique as the life you have lived.

Many ask how we can provide services so much cheaper than other funeral homes in the area. The model is simple. We utilize efficiencies and keep our overhead low, which allows us to pass those savings onto the families we serve.

We may not be fancy, but we are committed to offering you the most dignified and professional funeral service possible. Keeping our costs low allows us to pass those savings on to the families we serve.  We don’t believe that you should have to pay for a big fancy building, rooms full of inventory and overpriced vehicles.

Stop by and meet our team and take a look at our beautiful facility. We are truly dedicated to being a part of the community and serving the families of Cache Valley and Franklin County.
